COURSE TITLE:
THE FIVE FOLD OFFICE
_LESSON 1:_
THE OFFICE OF THE APOSTLE
The word apostle is from the Greek word " apostolos ", which means someone with a special message. In our modern days, "apostolos" could be called an envoy, a special representative or an ambassador. As you know, an envoy is a special messenger representative to another country.
So when the Bible says "he gave some apostles..." that means he made them envoys(apostles), someone carrying a special message. Before getting into the details, I want you to know who an apostle is not.
*1:1 Who An Apostle Is Not*
Knowing what Apostleship is not will clarify several doubts and unmask several falsehood that have stood against God's true Apostles.
1:1:1. Not A Miracle Worker
The fact that a minister is gifted with great power of miracles does not mean that he is called to be an apostle. Any of the offices (Prophet Pastors, Evangelists or Teacher), can produce miracles. Even those who are not called into the fivefold offices can work miracles. Paul spoke of the gifts of miracles and healings for believers in 1CORINTHIANS 12: 7 - 11. Jesus also spoke of the believers healing the sick and casting out devils (MARK 16: 17 - 18). If any beliver can have these gifts, it means then that working of miracles are not the proofs that one is called into the office of apostle. The case of Deacon Stephen justifies this(Acts 6:8). Stephen was a deacon but the Scriptures say Stephen performed many miracles among the people (ACTS 6: 8). According to Jesus, working of miracles are for the saints( Mark 1:17-19). Therefore, miracle workers are not necessarily apostles, but apostles can be miracle workers.
1:1:2. Not A Church Planter
Another misconception about this office is that of church planting. A person called to be an apostle may be purposed by God to be a church planter, but planting of churches is not what defines his apostleship. Philip was called the Evangelist. He preached the gospel in Samaria and planted churches there. The Spirit of God took him away from the city of Samaria to plant new churches, he was only known as the Evangelist. (Acts 6:5, 21: 8). Therefore, church planters are not necessarily Apostles, but Apostles can be church planters by purpose. But is not Church planting that defines his apostleship.
1:1:3. Not A Pathfinder/Pioneer
Sometimes people who pioneer new work of ministry or those who first break open a new area or land for ministry are often called Apostles. This also is unscriptural. God could purpose an Apostle to pioneer a new work, but his apostleship is not defined by a pioneering grace. So also, if you are a General Overseer, that doesn't make you an apostle. Take the case of Deacon/Evangelist Philip as a case study. When Jesus said to the Apostles that they would take this gospel from Jerusalem to Judaea, Samaria and to the uttermost of the earth; who pioneered the work in Samaria? Philip the evangelist of course(Acts 8:4). Therefore pioneers are not necessarily Apostles, but Apostles can be pioneers.
1:1:4. Not A Missionary
Erroneously, many school of thoughts teach that those who are passionately involved in mission are the true Apostles. They look at it from the angle of Paul being an Apostle and who was involved in mission. But what about Philip the Evangelist who was a missionary per excellence(ACTS 7). So also were Acquila and Priscilla. When the early Church was persecuted and scattered all over. Every disciple went everywhere to preach the gospel and planted churches and yet they were not apostles (ROMANS 8: 4).
1:2 WHO IS AN APOSTLE ?
Remember once again that the Greek name given for Apostle is "apostolos" which means someone sent with a special message. This means the Apostle carries a special message. That special message which he carries is what defines his apostleship. So an *Apostle is a man called by God with God's revelation knowledge for the now for the church* . This definition I just offered you may be difficult to swallow, so also was it with me when the Holy Spirit first showed it to me. I will therefore need to break it down a little bit.
First remember that from the original Greek meaning, The Apostles are God's envoy carrying God's special message. That justifies that they must have God's revelation for the now. Please note that when I say God's revelation for the now, I am not referring to ministers with the gift of vision, trance, dreams or prophecy. *By God's revelation for the now, I mean men that God has raised up with Sriptural insights that is lacking in the Church of their generation.
When God raised up Apostle Paul, It was because certain knowledge of God were lacking in the early Church Paul's apostolic unction came to supply them.
THE PROOF
_Reference Scripture_ Ephesians 3:1-5
Read the above Scripture carefully from verses one to five and take note of verse five where Paul claimed that God gave the revelation knowledge, which had been hidden therefore, to his Apostles.
*Eph 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
Eph 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given to me to you ward
Eph 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery;(as i wrote afore i few words,
Eph 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
Eph 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his Holy Apostles and Prophets by the Spirit ;
From the above reference Scripture, we see Paul claiming that the apostles and the prophets are the men who are granted the revelations of God's knowledge that are hidden or lacking in the Church. Our focus here is that of the apostle. Later we will discuss that of the prophet. So Paul clearly stated it that apostles are given hidden or lacking revelation knowledge of God. If a man is in the office of the apostle indeed, the unction of that office will cause him to be receiving certain revelation knowledge of God's word that are lacking in the Church of his own generation.
Local and Global apostles
The apostolic calling of a man may be in a global or local dimension. When I say global, I mean the revelations granted the apostles are what is lacking in the global Church. When I say local, I mean the revelation knowledge of that apostle are what is lacking in the local environment of the apostle. It is not the person who preaches on certain new thoughts that are necessarily the apostles but the person who actually receives the revelation knowledge.
The hidden revelation, which none of the Apostles before Paul knew, which was granted to Paul about the Gentiles becoming part of Christ, was what made him apostle. So also, the Lord's twelve Apostles because the hidden revelation which none of the Teachers of the Law knew was granted to them. The Apostles are special messengers with special message for the Church of their time. Today's true Apostles can either be a local Apostle for the local Churches or a global Apostle for the global Church depending on the scope of the revelation that is lacking in the Church that has been granted them.
1:4. The Unction Of This Office
You will recall that I have earlier said that each of the offices is a special unction. It is not a title to be worn like a badge. The office of the Apostle brings on a man called into it God's Unction that causes him to receive the word of God, God's revelation for the now that is lacking in the Church. The Office is an UNCTION and this is what the UNCTION will do in you if you are called into that office. Are you an Apostle by this Unction or you are claiming this office because of the size of your Ministerial Assignments?

LESSON 2
THE OFFICE OF A PROPHET
WHO IS A PROPHET IN OFFICE
REVELATIONS FOR THE "NOW"
THIS HIDDEN TRUTH HAS BEEN SPOKEN OF BEFORE BY THE SAINTS BUT SOME ARE NOT WRITTEN AND UNDERSTOOD.
The office of the Apostle and that of the Prophet
THEY'RE RELATED BECAUSE THE TWO ARE MEANT TO RECEIVE GOD'S REVELATION FOR THE NOW....
📍THE OFFICE OF THE PROPHET AND THAT OF THE APOSTLE ARE CLOSELY RELATED
CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY?
THEY ARE INTERWOVEN.... MEANING, THAT THERE MUST BE A WORKING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO
📍BECAUSE OF THIS REASON, GOD RAISED PAUL WITH APOSTOLIC UNCTION TO REVEAL IT AND MAKE IT KNOWN FOR THE NOW
📍THE REVELATION WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IN THESE TWO OFFICES IS THE HIDDEN TRUTH IN THE LAW AND THE BOOKS OF OTHER SAINTS OF OLD.
📍Eph 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the son of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophet by the Sprint.
📍THEY ARE INTERWOVEN. MEANING, THAT THERE MUST BE A WORKING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO
📍BECAUSE OF THIS REASON, GOD RAISED PAUL WITH APOSTOLIC UNCTION TO REVEAL IT AND MAKE IT KNOWN FOR THE NOW
📍THE REASON IS BECAUSE
THE APOSTLE RECEIVES GODS REVELATION THROUGH THE WRITTEN WORDS
📍THE PROPHET RECEIVE GOD'S REVELATION BY PERSONAL INSPIRATION IN THE FORM OF VISION IN ORDER TO CONFIRM THE REVELATION OF THE APOSTLE
📍THE SAME IS ALSO APPLICABLE WHEN GOD RAISE UP AN APOSTLE TODAY, THE APOSTOLIC UNCTION IN HIM WILL CAUSE HIM TO RECEIVE GOD'S REVELATION WHICH IS LACKING IN THE CHURCH FROM THE WRITTEN WORDS
📍NEVERTHELESS, A MINISTER MAY HAVE GOD'S DIVINE ABILITY TO SEE VISIONS, AND MAKE TRUE PROPHETIC PREDICTIONS WITHOUT NECESSARILY BEING IN THE OFFICE OF A PROPHET.
📍A PROPHET IS GENUINELY BLESSED WITH THE DIVINE ABILITY TO SEE OPEN VISION AND MAKE PROPHETIC PREDICTIONS BY THE INSPIRATION OF THE SPIRIT.
📍THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE OFFICE OF A PROPHET AND GIFT OF PROPHECY.
📍THE GIFT OF THE HOLYSPIRIT IS GIVEN TO YOU TO SERVE WITHIN THE LOCAL CHURCH NOT FOR YOU TO START A NEW CHURCH OF YOUR OWN..
📍SOME PEOPLE ARE MISTAKING THESE TWO... MANY HAVE GONE ASTRAY BECAUSE THEY MISUNDERSTOOD THE OFFICE OF A PROPHET AND GIFT OF PROPHECY.
📍SO BY THE UNCTION OF THIS OFFICE, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT SO MANY PEOPLE ARE JUST SEERS AND NOT PROPHETS IN OFFICE.
📍NOT MINDING THAT HE MAY NOT SEE PERSONAL VISION FOR PEOPLE OR MAY NOT MAKE PROPHETIC PREDICTIONS.
ALL THAT MATTERS IS HE IS AN AUTHORITY THAT THE GIFT OF PROPHECY IS SUBJECTED TO.
📍MAY I ALSO TELL YOU THAT THE OFFICE OF THE PROPHET IS A HIGHER AUTHORITY
📍FUNNY ENOUGH SOME EVEN LEFT THEIR MOTHER CHURCH TO OPEN A NEW CHURCH NOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A CALLING BUT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A GIFT
📍I HOPE YOU ARE FEEDING YOUR SPIRIT WITH ALL THESE INFORMATIONS?.
📍IN SUMMARY.
THAT YOU CAN SEE VISION, MAKE CORRECT PREDICTIONS FALLS INTO TRANCE OR DREAM OR HAVE THE GIFT OF WORD OF KNOWLEDGE THUS NOT MAKE YOU TO BE IN THE OFFICE OF A PROPHET.
📍YOU ARE A PROPHET ONLY WHEN YOU RECEIVE GOD'S REVELATION BY PERSONAL INSPIRATION THAT CONFIRMS THE WORDS OF THE SCRIPTURE...
HALLELUJAH
Higher authority in the essence that it's a principal office.
It's not just a Minister, he's a Minister to ministers.
Just like a principal is not just a teacher or co staff (he's a teacher to the teacher). The teachers have authority in the school compound, but the principal has a higher authority.
The audacity, authority, UNCTION given to him to function in his office
📍WHO IS THE HEAD OF A SECONDARY SCHOOL?
📍WITH THIS👆I BELIEVE WE ARE BETTER OF WITH WHAT THE OFFICE OF THE PROPHET IS ALL ABOUT?.
📍THAT'S WHAT THE OFFICE OF A PROPHET IS!
IT'S A HIGHER OFFICE, WHERE THOSE WHO USE PROPHETIC GIFTS ARE SUBMITTED TO HIM.
📍The same applicable to the spiritual office...
📍 DO U EVER SEE THE PRINCIPAL IN THE CLASS ROOM TEACHING?
📍Cos he can see ahead directly with the government! The government placed him in the office.
📍When a Teacher left a school to start his own private school because he can teach, will the government still pay him salaries? ..
📍WE WILL VERGE INTO THE THIRD IN THE LINE WHICH IS
THE EVANGELIST
#1. APOSTLE.
#2. PROPHET.
#3. EVANGELIST.
#4. PASTOR.
#5. TEACHER.
📍The man in prophetic office may not be able to Prophesy or see visions as you do. But God already VESTED in him the grace for the office.
📍Your prophetic gift is to work under a man called into prophetic office not to start your own prophetic Church.
📍When a seer or or someone with prophetic gift left to start a church on his own. God will stop paying his bills... Cos he's DISCONNECTED... He have to visit Herbalist to get power from the devil.😍
📍HE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO TEACH GEOGRAPHY OR LITERATURE, BUT ALL TEACHERS IN SCHOOL ARE SUBJECTED TO HIM.
📍I BELIEVE WE GET IT BETTER NOW!
📍Meanwhile, an Apostle can function in the 5 OFFICES...
An Apostle can Prophesy, teach, Pastor and function as EVANGELIST.
_That's the grace upon Apostolic office. But that doesn't say he's in five offices at a time._
4 LEVELS OF PROPHETIC MINISTRY
"
The one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort." (1 Corinthians 14:3, NIV)
”
Edification, Exhortation, and Consolation
In 1 Corinthians 14:3 Paul supplies three descriptive words to summarize what should be the goal of any prophecy. The New International Version’s wording—prophecy is for “strengthening, encouraging and comfort.” Other translations use words such as “edification and exhortation and consolation.”
The gift is for building people up, not for pointing an accusatory finger of judgment. However, experienced prophets, especially those who occupy a recognized office of prophet, will have the capacity and authority to both equip others as well as to speak words of correction and direction.
I want to take some time to differentiate four levels of prophetic gifting and authority: Level One—occasional inspirational prophecy; Level Two—consistent prophetic gifting; Level Three—proven prophetic ministry; and Level Four—the office of a prophet.
Throughout any discussion of prophecy, we must remember the superiority of God’s living word over anything that we can come up with on our own. Even if we are highly educated and very experienced, our knowledge and wisdom will fall short. Even if we are dealing with what seems to be a straightforward and simple situation, we should hold our own reactions in check until we verify them with the Holy Spirit. God’s love is so much greater than ours. His oversight is so much more complete. Why do we rely on ourselves so much when He is so much better?
It is not that inspirational prophecy or weak prophetic words that express much of the human heart are worthless—not at all. But throughout, our desire should be to be God’s mouthpiece, tainted as little as possible by our pitifully inadequate comprehension. Again, as Paul put it, “Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy” (1 Cor. 14:1).
Many of us move in and out of using various gifts and graces as our circumstances allow and require. In my case, I prophesied early on, only to become fully occupied as a pastor, caring for a congregation. I did not just sign on the dotted line to declare “I want to be a prophet.” God put a desire in me, and I believe He does that for anyone He calls. He does the choosing and we do the responding. The important thing is to be faithful in whatever you are being called to do at the moment, even if it is not very thrilling. Faithfulness brings increase. (See Luke 16:10.)
By that I do not mean that you earn your way into a new gift or a higher level of usefulness. No, all of it is purely God’s free gift. But you can learn how to use it capably, in the power of His Spirit and with His love, as you seek Him out every day. You can learn from your mistakes and you can learn from your victories. You can learn how to discern the voice of God in the midst of other voices. Activating all of your senses, you can find out the different ways He speaks to you. You learn His way of love.
Level One:
Occasional Inspirational Prophecy.
All believers, not only those who have been identified as “prophets,” can prophesy. Did you know that? Remember what Peter said on the day of Pentecost, quoting the prophet Joel:
And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,Your old men shall dream dreams.
And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath (Acts 2:17–19, nkjv). In other words, any believer is able to speak out something that God brings to mind. In addition, as I noted above, Scripture urges us to seek the gift of prophecy (see 1 Cor. 14:5).
Occasional inspirational prophecy can take the form of casual (but inspired) words of encouragement offered to other people. It can be really brief—like, “Yes.” If that is what God brought to your mind to say, it is a little prophetic word. Its importance may seem slightly heightened to you, or you may know that it is something you would not normally think of saying on your own.You just “give expression to the impression,” to borrow a phrase I have heard. You notice that your heart is beating in time with God’s heart of love and His fortifying comfort.
Most often these are simply concepts, thoughts, or ideas that God brings to mind, although occasionally people at this level receive visions, mental pictures, or prophetic dreams. While the potential is there to speak the very words of God, these people use their own words, primarily, to express a thought that has occurred to them.Such words are not to be spoken from public platforms but rather are meant for a small group setting one-on-one situation, and all parties should be willing to test them (see 1 Cor. 14:29–33).
Level Two:
Consistent Prophetic Gifting
The key word here is “consistent.” Prophets at this level experience a consistent stream of words, open visions, snapshot pictures, and dreams, which they are often able to report, interpret, and apply in an accurate way. Their prophetic output is still limited primarily to upbuilding words, but they are beginning to receive words with a greater weight of authority on them. Often people at this level of giving become quite interested in and committed to intercessory prayer. This makes sense, because while prophets make the desires of God known to people, intercessors make the desires of people known to God, even as they endeavor to pray according to the will of God.
Not everyone receives prophetic words the same way. You can start to pick up how they receive words by listening to them. Some will start out with, “I feel…” or “I sense that…” while others will report, “I heard the voice of the Lord in a dream” or “I’m getting a picture of…” Others may have “open visions” (a theophany) in which they can hear the Lord’s audible voice. (A theophany is sometimes an indication of a calling beyond the prophetic ministry to the office of prophet.)
Each congregational body will include a number of people who will be recognized by fellow members and leadership alike as having a prophetic gift. In time, someone with a consistent prophetic gifting could be invited to minister publicly to the congregation (again, in accordance with 1 Corinthians 14:29–33). This would normally happen in the context of a local congregation, which is our equipping place for ministry to the world at large. These people are gifted in that they have an unusual amount of revelation, but they must be trained not only in following the protocol of the house, but also in how to grow in maturity of character and wisdom about God’s corporate purposes.Words of direction or correction should not be spoken in a public, “unfiltered” way. They should first be submitted to the leadership in writing for possible later public delivery when it is deemed appropriate.
Prophetic people discover that their authority level increases with their track record. I had to learn a lot about that one. I could not figure out why, when I would deliver a word, nobody would even seem to hear it, but then when someone else would deliver an almost identical word, it would be well-received. It is because revelation and authority are not the same thing. Your authority level goes up as it becomes recognized by others, and that does not happen if you are forcing your way in with your gift. It depends on where and how you are serving and how much of a bridge of trust has been built over time.
Level Three:
Proven Prophetic Ministry
People with a proven prophetic ministry have demonstrated over time that they possess mature character and wisdom regarding God’s purposes for His people. At least occasionally, their prophetic gift will operate in tandem with “signs and wonders” gifts such as healing, miracles, or deliverance, and they will have earned the respect and authority to administer corrections and possibly rebukes. Like all words from God, theirs will need to be confirmed by witnesses and judged by other prophets, but they will be uncommonly accurate and edifying.
At the same time, they have not become fiery “thus saith the Lord” prophets. In fact, they may appear to be weak instead of powerful, speaking in brokenness and humility. (See 2 Corinthians 13:7–9.) Thus, they can be misunderstood easily. Their function is to provide, in addition to significant strengthening and encouragement, sensitive direction and correction, and to help illuminate and articulate the particular truths or doctrines that the Lord wants the members of the body to know.
Level three prophets may be recognized and commissioned by their local church or apostolic network to minister not only inside the local assembly but also outside, as God leads. Often they are able to receive detailed information about those to whom they minister, including names, faces, future events, and dates. These prophets will not be strangers to open visions, and they may also deliver words in which they explain the symbolic meanings of what they are seeing. They will receive words, dreams, or visions in a spontaneous inspired flow, if not daily, at least very regularly.
Level Four:
The Office of a Prophet.
A person who holds the New Testament office of a prophet, although he or she will speak God’s words in a powerful way, nevertheless has less authority than those who wrote Scripture (see Eph. 4:11–12). I challenge people who aspire to the office of a prophet by saying, “You are not an office ministry prophet unless you have the capacity to equip and multiply.” This level of prophecy goes way beyond the scope of an inspirational gift, and they will be used most often to speak encouragement but also direction and correction, equipping and commissioning.
Distinguishing characteristics of an office ministry prophet may start at birth—a miraculous birth or an angelic visitation. The prophet may not be recognized for many years, but in retrospect this would be one of the signs. Think of the prophet Samuel, for example, born to a barren mother named Hannah who promised him to the Lord (see 1 Sam. 1). My own mother, while she was not a Hannah, miscarried a baby on July 3, 1951 and she prayed, “Lord, if You give me another son, I will dedicate him to Christ’s service.” And I was born exactly one year later, to the day!
Those with the office of a prophet have been proven over years of ministry, and they receive an unusually prolific flow of revelatory information. Sometimes they seem to be more at home in heaven than on earth, especially when they report an open vision by announcing, “I was there….” Without fail, their words carry much authority, as they speak with great accuracy and power, frequently ministering in signs and wonders gifts as well. More often than other prophets, they have experienced rejection and misunderstanding. I say that they are a little bit like Jacob at times, in that they walk with a limp.Through their gifts, they provide edification, confirmation, direction, and correction to those in church government and often to leaders in the secular world. They establish, articulate, and emphasize what the Holy Spirit wants to have highlighted. In addition, they may predict future events with accuracy to help the Body of Christ mature in its position in the world. As they are fulfilled, these predictions are used to amaze and wake up unconverted people so that they will want to encounter God for themselves. This may include the prediction of “unspiritual” events such as weather patterns and natural signs (storms, droughts, earthquakes), international political shifts, and so on. Their accuracy gains them recognition on a broad scale, and they are used to address people of influence in the secular world as well as individuals, congregations, and streams within the Body of Christ.
I have been invited to pray and prophesy over billionaires, the chief justice of the supreme court of Korea, a NASA director, and others. I will not divulge anything about our meetings, because they are private. In addition, since I live in Nashville, I have prayed over more famous musicians than I ever would have expected. And then there was the lady I saw in the foyer of a building not long ago. She was not famous or rich at all, but what happened was miraculous. As I started to walk out of the building, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me to take the money out of my billfold. I do not normally carry cash with me, but He said, “You have a hundred dollar bill in your billfold.” I looked, and sure enough, I did. Then He said, “There’s going to be a lady seated in the foyer as you are on your way out, and I want you to give her the hundred dollars.” I saw a picture of a half-toothless woman in my mind.
I started walking and guess what? There was an old lady sitting there who was half toothless. I stopped and looked right at her and had her open her hand. I said, “Here, honey, this is for you. This is from God.” I kissed her hand. She was startled almost speechless, but she said, “Well, you mean this is for me?”“Yeah, it’s for you, because God wants you to know He cares. He loves you with an everlasting love. He really does.” And I went on my way.I found out she had never been to church ever in her life, not even once, but she came to church the next day. She recognized me and she said, “You’re that man who gave me that hundred dollars. I never had no man touch me like you touched me.” She told me that she had just been released from prison, where she had been for twenty years because she had murdered somebody. (If I had known that ahead of time, I probably would have run out the back door!)I told her, “Darling, there’s Somebody who wants to touch you, and His name is Jesus. He’s going to touch you in the depths of your heart, and you will never forget it.” And she gave her life to Christ Jesus on the spot. For me, that is just as grand as prophesying to a king or a president.
The Gift of Prophecy and the Office of a Prophet
Each of the four levels of activity comes from the same Lord and Spirit and they overlap in many ways. But that does not mean that we can ignore their distinctions. In fact, we must acknowledge the distinctions so as not to act presumptuously in the outworking of the gift. This becomes especially important as we consider the higher levels of operation. Here I have listed eleven of the most important distinctions between the gift of prophecy and the office of a prophet so that we can compare them:
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Given by Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12; 14)
All can prophesy (1 Cor. 14:24, 31)
Edification, exhortation, comfort (1 Cor. 14:3)
Given to help the Body, for the common good
A member of the Body (1 Cor. 12:12)
Revelations of past, present (1 Cor. 12:8–10)
Primarily speaks to the one Body of which it is a member (1 Cor. 12:14–26)
Delivers the Word (1 Cor. 14:12)
Speaks to the Church (1 Cor. 14:2)
Intercessors make desires of people known to God
Speaks God’s grace
Office Gifts
Given by Jesus (Eph. 4)
Some prophets (Eph. 4:11; 1 Cor. 12:29)
Same, plus correction, direction (Old Testament prophets)
Given to lay foundation of Church, lead (1 Cor. 12:7) and equip the people (Eph. 2:20; 4:12)
A joint of the Body (Eph. 4:16)
Revelations of past, present, future (Acts 11:28; 21:10)
May speak to one Body and to the nations (Acts 21:10; Jer. 1:5, 10)
Becomes the Word (Agabus, Isaiah, Hosea)
Speaks to the past, present, and future Church, social, political, economic, geographical arenas. (Nahum, Hosea, Obadiah, Elijah, Daniel, Agabus)
Prophets make desires of God known to the people
*Speaks God’s grace and judgment*
The office of a prophet entails an increase of revelation and authority that cannot be attained apart from long experience, attentive training, and recognition (even commissioning) from others.
Keep It Simple
Our good Father extends an invitation to every one of us to learn from Him and to mature into the next level. All that is required on our part is a willing heart that hungers for more of the Lord Himself. Keep small in your own eyes and God will do exceedingly, abundantly above all that you can ever ask or think (see Eph. 3:20). Keep it simple and always let His extravagant love pour through you. Remember that the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus.
May you have the perseverance and patience to grow in the supernatural ways of God. Pray with me now:
Father, in Jesus’ great name we declare that we want what you want. That means that we desire to bring edification and exhortation and comfort to our part of the Body of Christ and to anybody You lead our way. We choose to lean into You, to press into Your love so that we can grow and mature in the grace that You so richly supply. Give us wisdom to properly discern and steward the present level of our gifting while we also hunger to grow and mature into a fuller stature in Your Son Jesus. Grant us increasing wisdom, revelation, and authority .
WHAT IS PROPHECY AND THE PROPHETIC?
Prophecy is a supernatural enabling by the Spirit of God to hear His voice and then deliver the message of what that voice is saying. I believe that you cannot prophesy without the unction of the Spirit. If you are prophesying without God then you're not prophesying from the correct source. The difference between psychics and prophets in the Kingdom of God is the source of their revelation. We get our source directly from the Holy Spirit. Biblical prophecy is speaking the words of God by the unction of the Holy Spirit.
WHO CAN PROPHESY?
1 Corinthians 12 talks about the list of spiritual gifts that are available to us when we have the Holy Spirit, so I believe that everybody has the ability to prophesy but not all people will choose to prophesy. Because it's the Holy Spirit that gives us revelation in the first place, all believers can do it. Even if it's a simple picture that is coming directly from God, that can be a profound moment in someone's life.
The scripture also says that there is grace given by the Holy Spirit as He wills (1 Corinthians 12:11). You get a measure of grace upon your life to operate in that gift. So for some people, it comes really naturally and other people have to work at it.
SO, WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOMEONE WHO CAN PROPHESY AND SOMEONE WHO’S A PROPHET
We can all operate in the gift of prophecy like we can operate in the gift of healing and wisdom and discernment. If someone is called as a prophet then you're looking at a different function. The prophet function in Ephesians 4 is more of a life call. Which is God-given. It's part of who you are, you kind of can't escape it.
I believe true prophets who are walking in the fullness of their call have angelic encounters, they have visions or dreams or both. I'm more of a visions person, I've got a woman on our team, who has more of a dream gift. Prophets will have angelic encounters and the supernatural will be flowing through their life. Not everyone who prophesies accurately is a Prophet.
Prophets should be positioned in the body of Christ, in the local church and operate from being part of a family. I don't believe they should be functioning outside of the local church. It's really good to be commissioned into your call by leadership who recognize the call and anointing in your life.
The other thing to consider is the prophet's realm of influence. Is it a local church influence, or is it a city-wide influence, or is it a global influence? Prophets like Cindy Jacobs, Sharon Stone, Rick Joyner and Bobby Conner are all global influence. That level of influence is definitely decided by God, not by us.
HOW CAN A CHRISTIAN LEARN TO PROPHESY?
I would first say, “Holy Spirit, this is a gift that you've given me. I believe in faith that you have given me this gift, so would you teach me how to do this? Would you start to give me pictures or words or scriptures for the people around me?” You've got to start with those that are around you. You don't go from zero to prophesying over the nations in five minutes. Scripture says to prophesy in proportion to your faith, so when you start off, you've got a little bit of faith to prophesy and that faith can grow. You also have to build trust in the Holy Spirit that He will speak to you, and you also have to build your trust in yourself that you hear correctly.
Then get some training, read some books, go to a prophetic training course, get activated, have somebody lay hands on you, to impart the gift of faith to prophesy. That would be the starting point.
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE RESPOND TO A PERSONAL PROPHETIC WORD?
In the exchange of a prophetic word being delivered, there are two powerful people involved. There's the person that is delivering the prophetic word and there's the person that is receiving the prophetic word. You have the choice to accept or not accept the word. Just because somebody has delivered a word to you, you don't have to take it on. The scripture says judge it, sift it, eat what's good and spit out the bones (1 Thessalonians 5:21). In other words, there may be a mix of God and the person's soul or flesh in the word. It's up to us now to learn how to judge it.
A prophetic word is an invitation for a conversation.
I like to listen over and over to the word if it's recorded, or write it out and read it over and over, pray over it, and ask questions. I ask "Holy Spirit, what is 100% you? What is the fluff or the filler?" When you eat a vitamin pill, you know that in the pill there it's not all pure vitamins, there are fillers as well that they add. So when you eat the prophetic word, you want to filter out the fluff.
Then I ask, “What is for now, what's for soon, and what's for 10 years down the track?” Discerning the timing of the fulfillment of it is important. Get a sense also on the meaning of metaphors, and ask Holy Spirit to unpack it even more.
HOW ABOUT RESPONDING TO A PROPHECY OVER A GROUP OR CHURCH?
If it's over a church, and you're not in leadership, you don't really have to do anything. It's the leadership's responsibility to take that word and to discuss within the leadership whether they believe that it is the word of the Lord or not, and if they believe that it is the word of the Lord then they go through the same process as what I've just said: What bits are great? What bits have spiritual weight? Is this a word for now? Where are we feeling God leading us?
It's about praying, Lord, is this of you, does this witness? The Holy Spirit is so faithful, He'll give you a strong witness if this is definitely God speaking. And he'll give you a strong witness if it's not. He doesn't want you to live in deception, that's not His will, it's not who He is. So if you ask Him for discernment, He's going to give it to you. He wants us to have understanding. So pray for wisdom and understanding to know what to do with that word.
That's for a church and for a nation. I think if a national word comes in, then the prophets of that nation have a responsibility to weigh and judge it.
WHAT ELSE IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE PROPHETIC?
I think it's really important that we prophesy from the foundation that God is good. That we prophesy God’s redemptive purpose for people, cities, churches and for organizations. If we are called to prophesy, we may also discern issues, we may discern things that are not right. But if we sit in the place of judging people, then our prophetic utterance will not outwork the purpose to seed in God's will, heart, and word to build, to unlock destiny and set the captives free. We must understand the difference between the discernment gift and the prophecy gift. Just because you discern something, doesn't mean that God gave you that revelation. We must look to the heart of the Father for what He wants to say about that situation.

LESSON 3 .
THE OFFICE OF THE EVANGELIST
THE PRE-AMBLES
Ephesians 4:11
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
The above reference Scripture is the only place in the whole Scripture where all the five fold offices are mentioned together. In some places in the Scripture, we may find one or two offices mentioned together. There is no other place in the Scripture where the whole of them is mentioned together. Now as soon Paul the apostle, to whom the revelation of this five fold office is granted, told us the purpose of these offices. Immediately after he itemised these five fold offices, he declared the purpose of these offices. We are going to let the Scripture speak for itself.
3.1. WHOSE VIEW IS RIGHT? SCRIPTURAL VIEW OR DENOMINATIONAL VIEW?
There is a need for you to first answer this question in your heart before we move ahead. If what your denomination or theology has established runs contrary to scriptural view, whose view will you accept? A lot of time, we just follow popular view known for ages without checking the Scripture whether those things are so or not. I believe you will hold to scriptural view and not what is popularly known.
3.2. THE PURPOSE OF THE OFFICE
Ephesians 4:11
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;*
Ephesians 4:12
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
As soon as Paul mentioned these five fold offices, he immediately announced the purpose for which God has set them up. In verse 11, he mentioned the offices and in the next verse 12, he declared the purpose to be *"for the perfecting of the saints..."* This means that if a man is called into the office of an apostle, he is called to be apostle to the Church, the saints. The same is the office of the Evangelist.
The reading of Ephesians 4:11-12 can be read this way if we eliminate the other offices and retain only that of the Evangelist:
And he gave some...evangelists...for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry..."
So by this statement of Paul here, a man is called into the office of the Evangelist for the perfecting of the saints and not for crusades. If you agree that the apostle and other offices are for the perfecting of the saints. Why then will you exclude that of the Evangelist from the list seeing that they are all listed together as being offices for the perfecting of the saints. As we go on this study, we will find out who then is called to do the crusade. This aspect will be studied under the course titled:
THE CALL
The Greek word for evangelist is called " *euangelistes* " and it means a bringer of _good tidings_ . It means nothing else other than what the Scripture says it is, as clearly illustrated by the meaning of the name "Evangelist". An *'euangelistes'* means a bringer of good tidings, not a soul winner or missionary or a revivalist. Neither does the Bible ascribe it to those who show so much emotion on the pulpit by jumping up and shouting while preaching. All of the human reasoning and logic cannot explain the mind of God. Today, if a preacher is shouting, jumping and screaming while preaching, he is quickly labeled 'evangelist'. The attitude of a preacher on the pulpit is a demonstration of his temperament. It does not explain his office. Remember that the office is an unction and not an emotion. *The Greek word ' _euangelistes_ ,' which means a bringer of good tidings, implies someone who is sent with a message of hope, joy, restoration, faith and comfort.* This office of the Evangelist was so important in the early Church in view of the persecution and sufferings that Christians were subjected to in those days. The Evangelists were the men and women that God raised up to edify the Church with a message of hope, faith, comfort, joy so as to enable them endure the trials of their faith. Always remember that each of the office is for the perfecting of the saints and not for the world. That is a man called to be an apostle, he is an apostle to the Church and not to the world. The same way, a man called to be a Prophet, Pastor, Teacher or Evangelist, are called to minister to the Church and not to the world. The offices are meant for the perfecting of the saints as stated by Paul and not for ministering to the world. Who then should go into the world?
Each of the offices give the man in that office a particular kind of message for the Church. The apostle receives God's revelation knowledge that is lacking in the Church of his days through the written word. While the Prophets receive God's revelation knowledge through personal divine inspiration in the form of visions that confirm or talk to the written word. The Evangelists on their own receive God's revelation knowledge in the word in the form of good tidings that provide comfort, hope, faith and joy for the saints. *These Evangelists are the encouragers.* After you have truly meant an Evangelist, your faith and hope will be lifted. Some of the people who are called into this office ends up calling themselves motivational speakers. And some of them get drifted away from the Scriptures to good books written by unsaved men in order for them to gain light and understanding on what to motivate people with.
The reason why men and women who are into crusades with passion for soul winning call themselves Evangelists is because that is what the theology that produced them has called them. That theology says that if you have a sense of call to reach the yet unreached people of the world, you are therefore an Evangelist. But I know the question in your mind would be if a person is called by God with passion for souls and mandate to reach the yet unreached, who is such a man then? This will be discussed in our next week course of study titled: THE CALL
3.3. WHO AN EVANGELIST IS NOT
3.3.1. Not a crusader
Everyone is commanded to reach out to the lost souls. Everybody is to 'go ye into the world and preach the gospel.' But if you have a specific call into reaching the world, we shall discuss this by next week class to know what that means.
3.3.2. Not a noise maker*on the pulpit
A preacher who makes noise and shout a lot on the pulpit is today called the Evangelist. This is incorrect. Don't forget that *each of the offices is an unction of the Spirit that causes the man called into it to receive God's word in a certain way.* *_The office is known by the content of the message and not by style of presentation.*_ The shouting is just the temperament of the preacher.
3.3.3. Not an unorganized sermon preacher on the pulpit.
Some preachers who lack communication skills have adopted their communication illiteracy as the office of the Evangelist. The Scripture has said that every preacher must be ' _apt to teach.'(_ 1Timothy 3: 2).
3.3.4. Not a pulpit gester
Another way the Evangelist is viewed is like a preacher who makes so much fun with gesticulations on the altar. This is absolutely absurd. Sometimes when a preacher lacks etiquette while preaching, such that he insults the sensibility of the congregation, such a preacher is quickly acclaimed to be an Evangelist. They say such things as ' _the Evangelist does not take nonsense.'_
3.3.5. Not a miracle worker
Just as we have learnt so far, any of the offices can work in the miraculous. Miracles are not the exclusive preserve of a particular office (Mark 16: 17-18).
3.3.6. Not a missionary
Missionary is not a description of a man's office but his purpose. We shall be studying this under THE CALL..
3.4. PHILIP, THE EVANGELIST
In Acts 21: 8, the Scripture refers to Philip as the Evangelist. But the reason why he was called the Evangelist was not stated there. What was said there was that he was part of the seven deacons that were chosen by the apostles in Acts 6: 1-7. The other thing we also knew of Philip was his pioneering work of ministry in Samaria and in some villages. You must note that all that Philip did in mission work, pioneering work, working of miracles and Church planting were also done by many other called men who were never Evangelists. Brethren such as: Paul, Aquila and Priscilla, Apollos, Peter, James and John, did similar things without being Evangelists. It therefore means that those special things he did are not the descriptions of the office of the Evangelist. From what you have learnt about the Evangelist as someone who receives messages meant for edification, comfort, hope faith etc, which is described as good tidings, you would therefore know that Philip the Evangelist was a great encourager to the early Church in the midst of their persecution and sufferings.
3.5. DO THE WORK OF AN EVANGELIST
In 11Timothy 4: 5, Paul told Timothy to do the work of an Evangelist, but must make full proof of his ministry. Paul was simply telling Pastor Timothy to provide encouragement, comfort faith and hope to the persecuted Church that he was pastoring. Do not forget that this ministry gift is one of the graces of Christ that worked so much in the early Church as also the gifts of prophecy and the office of the Prophets. These gifts and offices were so needed in the early Church in view of the persecution and sufferings of that time. Today also, God has also bestowed on His Church this ministry gift of the Evangelist to strengthen His Church. But many who are operating in this office call themselves different names because they do not know that this is their office. And for some denominations, the office of the Evangelist has been derogated and relegated to mean the starting point for anyone who has just responded to ministry call.
3.6 . THE UNCTION OF THE OFFICE
Remember once again that the unction of the office causes the minister to receive God's revelation knowledge in a special way. The man who is called into the office of The Evangelist is granted God's unction (God's special anointing that causes him to receive God's revelation that tends always towards good tidings). Check out the areas of your constant revelation knowledge of God's word. If you always receive God's revelation knowledge from His words that always come like good tidings, motivations, encouragement or comfort, then you are likely in the office of The Evangelist.
3.7 . AN EVANGELIST NOT A CRUSADER
An Evangelist can do the crusade, just as any minister can carry out a crusade for the purpose of winning the lost. But this is not what the Scripture says makes him an Evangelist. It is our theology that calls a crusader an Evangelist and not the Bible. In our earlier study, we have seen that all the offices are meant to perfect the saints (Ephesians 4:1112). No one is said to be for crusade, or for reaching the lost. All of us are commissioned to reach the lost. So the Pastor, the Apostle, the Prophet and the Teachers can do crusade. When we are reaching out to the yet unreached, we are not doing so in the capacity of our office, we are reaching out as preachers (Romans 10:14). But when we function in the capacity of our office, we are to do that to perfect the saints. So the Evangelist brings good tidings to the Church. You may say but God has sent you to reach out to the yet unsaved souls. How come you are saying that I am not an evangelist. What you don't get to know is that there is a difference between your office and your purpose. Under the study of THE CALL, we would have covered every angle that will dissolve all your doubts.
SUMMARY_
📍THE MAN WHO IS CALLED INTO THE OFFICE OF THE EVANGELIST IS GRANTED GOD'S UNCTION WHICH CAUSES HIM TO RECEIVE GOD'S REVELATION THAT TENDS TOWARDS GOOD TIDINGS
SO IF YOU ALWAYS RECEIVE GOD'S REVELATION KNOWLEDGE FROM HIS WORDS THAT ALWAYS COME IN FORM OF GOOD TIDINGS LIKE MOTIVATION, ENCOURAGEMENT OR COMFORT, THEN IT IS LIKELY YOU ARE IN THE OFFICE OF THE EVANGELIST
📍We will round up here but remember
📍WHEN YOU ARE REACHING OUT TO THE YET UNREACHED( SINNERS OR UNBELIEVERS) WE'RE NOT DOING SO IN THE CAPACITY OF OUR OFFICE BUT WE'RE REACHING OUT TO THEM AS PREACHERS.
ROMANS 10:14
_How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher_ ?

LESSON 4
THE OFFICE OF THE PASTOR
The word 'Pastor' comes from a very interesting Greek word ' *Poimen* ' which implies nurturing. In some places in the Bible, ' Poimen* ' is translated as Shepherd 'Poimen' literarily means to nurture to growth or to maturity.
4.1. The Unction Of The Office
Like the other offices, the unction in this office causes the man called into it to receive God's revelation knowledge from the written word that can nurture people to growth or maturity. If, as you walk with God, you find out that your areas of constant scriptural revelations always tends towards that which can nurture to growth, you are likely a Pastor. This is a simple way of knowing your office. To call yourself a pastor, it means that your area of constant revelation of the word are those that are related to nurturing and maturing.
Today, a Person who is overseeing a congregation is officially called a Pastor. Yes, it will be ideal to have as Head of congregation a person who is called into the office of a Pastor, but that does not mean that everyone heading a congregation must of a necessity be a Pastor. There can be men called into the office of a Pastor who will not necessarily have to head a congregation. Since the biblical meaning of the office of the Pastor is to nurture to growth. One may be nurturing the saints without heading a congregation. But God does not insist that this must be the pattern. In fact Paul talked about how he ordained elders in every Church to head the different churches he established. He also told timothy to ordain Elders and Bishops that can head the churches.
4.2. Pastors Without Congregations
Can we have Pastors without congregation? Yes of course. If you understand the biblical concept I have described above, that a Pastor is a man called with 'poimen' unction which causes him to receive God's revelation knowledge that can nurture to maturity, then you would know that it's possible. So many great Christian Counsellors and mentors are operating under 'poimen' unknowingly to them. But because they hold no congregation, they think they are not. That person who nurtures marriage because he receives revelation knowledge from God's word that tends towards nurturing of couples is in the office of a Pastor. There are men who constantly receive insights from the Scriptures on business and financial success, such are also in the.office of Pastor. Men and women that have been called with deep insights from Scripture on youth and single life, such people are also into the office of the Pastor. You will know whether you are called to be a Pastor if you realize that your area of constant revelation knowledge from God's word always tends towards nurturing to growrh of God's people in a particular area of life. It is not the heading of a congregation that makes one a Pastor. There are pastors without congregation. This nurturing to growth goes beyond spiritual wellbeing of a Christian.
_LESSON 5:
THE OFFICE OF THE TEACHER
Interestingly, the word Teacher comes from a Greek word ' didaskalos ' which means an 'instructor'. It refers to an expert who shows a trainee the use of a particular tool or equipment. Some schools of thought have tried to explain from the English Language use of the word 'teacher'. Many think of it in terms of a classroom teacher who arranges his or her lesson note in a particular order and presents his or her lesson under certain guidelines and procedure of communication.
5.1. WHO A TEACHER IS NOT
5.1.1. Not Communication Skills
In the biblical use of the word Teacher, it is not referring to someone who is presenting his sermon in an organized pattern. That is a personal communication skill which can be acquired in school without the Holy Ghost. And you know by now that this office is an unction of the Spirit that causes a minister to receive God's revelation knowledge from the Scriptures in a certain way. If it is an unction of the Holy Spirit, it then means that it is not what can be acquired in school or inborn. The Scripture says,'and he gave some...teachers...' If He gives it, it then means that you cannot have it without Him given you. And you know that communication skills can be inborn or acquired without Christ. If being a called Teacher is about communication Skills, it then means that there is no need to be called by God in order to function as a Teacher. We must therefore find our what this office of a teacher is.
5.1.2. Not Personality
A minister who operates in the office of a teacher is not necessarily that person who stands still without fast movements on the pulpit while delivering his sermon. That is the personality of the preacher. This does not explain his office. Please note that it is not the style of presentation that describes this office but the content of the message. Just as we have been learning so far that each of the offices is an unction that causes the man called into it to receive God's revelation knowledge in the Scripture in a certain way. Therefore, each of the offices is defined by the content of their message and not by the style of presentation. Whether the preacher is standing still or jumping around while delivering the sermon, does not define this office. That only describes the personality of the preacher.
Just as we have learnt in that of the office of the Evangelist that it is not a function of shouting or jumping around. For instance, an Evangelist may stand still to deliver his sermon all through. How do we know he is an Evangelist? It is by the message of hope, comfort, faith or the good tidings that he.proclaims which strengthensthe body. So also, a preacher may be jumping around and yet be in the office of a teacher. He is a teacher by the content of what he is saying and not by how he is saying it. It is not the analytical approach and logical skills of presentation that defines this office. If it be so, then the office of a teacher is no more a calling and a gift of the grace of Christ as clearly taught by Scriptures. When the Spirit of God began to show me some of these truths it took me years to fully comprehend them because they were contrary to what theology had established and what famous preachers uphold. But the Scriptures cannot be broken. This was the reason I asked a question at the beginning of this course that 'whose view is right, scriptural view or popular view'?
5.2. WHO IS A DIDASKALOS?
' _Didaskalos_ ' means an 'instructor'. That is the Greek word translated as Teachers in Ephesians 4:11. So a man called into the office of a Teacher is that man who has been granted God's unction that causes him to always receive God's revelation knowledge that is capable of Instructing God's people. The Teacher shows the use of the revelation knowledge of God's word made available by the Apostles, Pastors or Evangelists. The reason why the office of the teacher is mentioned last is not because it is the least among the five fold office ,but because of the all important roles the Teacher plays among the ministry gifts. While the apostles make available revelations of God that are lacking in the Church, the Evangelist us providing the message of hope(the good tidings), and the Pastor makes available the nurturing truths for the body, it is the Teacher who provides technical guides and the use of all the truths made available by the other offices. That is the meaning of the word 'didaskalos.' It means to instruct or guide the usage of a weapon. A person who is called into the office of a Teacher may not necessarily have to be the originator of what he preaches. But he helps to establish the body in the present truth.
5.3. The Unction Of The Office
Like every other office, the Unction of the office of the Teacher causes him to receive God's revelation knowledge from the written word that tends towards instructing God's people.
_LESSON 6:_
RECOGNIZING YOUR OFFICE_
So many ministers today name themselves Pastors, Prophets, Evangelists or Apostles without knowing their specific office. Some just assumed. Some consider it as a title and decide to go for the seemingly higher title of the Apostle. This confusion came as a result of a long time ignorance the Church suffered and as well as a result of various erroneous teachings being heralded by many theological Seminaries. Today, denominations have established what the Scripture did not approve of such as special caps, rings, clothes and rods for the office of the apostles.
The Offices are not something you claim by yourself because the Scriptures says 'He gave some apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.' You are either called by God into it or you are ordained into it by a man who is called into the office, because each of the office is the unction of the Spirit.
To recognize to which one you have been called into is simple. Going by the study so far, you can easily recognize your office by identifying your area of constant revelation knowledge of God's word. Take for Instance; If you are constantly receiving God's light in His word that always tends to bring hope, comfort, encouragement or motivation to God's people, then you are likely to be an Evangelist. It may be difficult for you to know your office If you are not a regular student of the word of God. Even though you are a praying guru, If you do not create enough time to fellowship with God's word, such that God's word speaks to you as a man speaks to his friend, you will never know your office.
6.1. WHY MUST I KNOW MY OFFICE?
If you do not know your office, you will never know the authority of your call. To be called of God means to be vested with God's divine authority. And the authority of your call is exercised through your office. When you know your Office, you have known the first part of your call.
There are many ministers today who say they are Apostles, Evangelists, Pastors or Teachers; but the content of their regular biblical revelations show that they are not what they say they are.
"...first Apostles"
Reference Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:28
According to our reference scripture above, the Scripture says God has set the Apostles first in the Church. Why? The word first there does not imply superiority or preeminence. It rather has to do with the importance of that office. It is the Apostle that possesses God's revelation for the now that is lacking in the Church. The office comes first because all other offices are to listen to them to know what God is saying for the now. In the exercise of his office, the Apostles can function from the office of the Pastor if the revelation for the now that he is bringing is meant to nurture to growth.
If the revelation is meant to instruct, the Apostle would be seen functioning like the Teacher. The Apostle can exercise the grace of the other offices except that of the Prophet.
_LESSON 7_
ORDAINING OTHERS
Ordination is not just an open religious ceremony which confirms ministerial title or authority on a person. Ordination is a spiritual transaction that involves the transfer of the unction on a called man to another believer who is not called but required to serve in Ministry.
If each of the offices is truly special gifts of Christ or a special form of the Spirit unction in the life of the called man; if a man is therefore called by Christ to be a Pastor i.e he has been given the unction of a Pastor, If this Pastor chooses to ordain someone into the office of the Evangelist, where will he get the unction of that Evangelist to give the ordained?
This is clear evidence that a man can only ordain someone into the office to which he has been called i.e granted unction or gift. This above illustration is different from wherr man is called to be an evangeluist and the Pastor now commissions him. This is because there is a difference between commissioning and ordination. The man being called directly possesses the gift or unction of the office of the Evangelist. The commissioning by a Pastor is just a symbol of authority and confirmation.
NOTE: You cannot ordain a person into the office of an Apostle or Prophet. These two offices are sacred. You can only be called into them.
Eph 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his Holy APOSTLES and PROPHETS by the Spirit;
Of all the offices, the reference Scripture above shows that God has set apart these two offices .

LESSON 8
12 KINDS OF PASTORS
Some few year back, the good Lord inspired me to write this as a chapter in my best selling book, "Grow the Pastor, Grow the Church" .Though many have taken it upon themselves to plagiarise it without giving credit to the author, yet, there is uncanny relevance to what is happening in the ministry today in it. That's why am posting it for your enjoyment officially today.
I have come to discover 12 kinds of Pastors that are visible in the Church today. Though not all, but these twelve represent majority of Pastors leading Churches today. I hope you can find who you are among these twelve descriptions.
1. BUSINESSMEN PASTORS (1 Timothy 6:35; Isaiah 56:10,11; 2:14).
Description: They are businessmen and women who see the ministry as avenue to make money. They function as the Chief Executive Officers of their Churches. The Church is run with business principles. Their major emphasis is money, finance, prosperity and how to make it. They are in absolute control of everything.
Basic Motive: Gain and profit. Their programmes are targeted at how much money is realized. They are using God’s name, the Church and the Bible to make money and enrich themselves.
Demerits: No heaven-mindedness, disciples and godliness. They breed Christians who are greedy of gain, profit-oriented, thieves and crooks. They engage in lying, fantastic promises and spurious prophesies. They apportion Church position to the highest bidder.
Way Out: True repentance, freedom from financial lucre and restoration of balanced truth to the church. Business Pastors have brought much bad image to the Church.
2. FUNKY PASTOR (2 Timothy 4:3, 4; Jeremiah 6:13)
Description: Worldly, carnal, ungodly Pastors who watered down the gospel to please people. They dress anyhow and they allow anything in the Church. They are immoral and sex-maniac who take advantage of people. Their messages are the Church liberty, ministry on the broadways, easy way to heaven and making you somebody in life.
Basic Motives: Keep the people happy. Don’t offend them by telling them the truth. They exert influence and power over people in order to get their money. Youths and young people enjoy these kinds of Pastors.
Demerits: No mention of sin, evil, hell or righteousness. Their focus is miracle, blessing and breakthroughs. Secular talk shows are allowed. Immorality, extra-marital affairs and pre-marital sex are overlooked all in the belief that God is a loving God. Funky pastors have brought much shame to the Pastoral ministry and their name.
Way Out: Genuine repentance and restitution, or else…
3. VOCATIONAL PASTORS (Ezekiel 34:2, 3)
Description: They are in the ministry, not as a result of God’s call, but by the call of men. They see pastoring as a hobby. They love the honour and respect being given to Pastors. Tribal sentiments, ethnic bias, connection to authority, wealth, status and oratory power are what was used to make them Pastors. Educational qualifications and greasing of palms also figure here.
Basic Motive: To rule over others and to be seen and respected by them. No vision, purpose and commission from the Lord. They therefore lord themselves over the people, using threats and position to oppress those who are genuinely called.
Demerits: They are not concerned with anyone or the Church once their position is secured. They lead Church backward through secular management systems. They don’t train, develop or empower anyone. The Church is always malnourished and spiritually weak under such Pastors. Their ministrations are always devoid of God’s power and their sermons always make people sick. Vocational or honorary Pastors have caused much havoc for the Church today.
Way Out: Seek the face of God as to His plan for your life, resignation and functioning where God wants you.
4. YESTERDAY’S PASTORS
Description:They are called by the Lord, but they are not in tune with the moves of God today. They are holy, godly and righteous but they are trapped in yesterday’s ways because they are ultra-conservative. Old tradition, dogma and doctrinal correctness is their forte. They spend only on their one gift to lead the Church, they detest learning and change.
Basic Motive: To survive and bring back old time religion. They are therefore prejudiced against growth, change and new strategies. They are good in hymnals, bell-ringing and order of service that has become routine and lifeless today. Their relational skills are weak and very low.
Demerits: Lack of vision, purpose and direction in the Church. The work is backward; they are confused because changes that have occurred have left them behind. They therefore experience crisis, breakaway, stagnation and backdoor losses. They do everything in the Church because they don’t trust anybody. They are skeptic of people and change. Pastors of yesterday usually don’t know the new moves of God for today; because they are too busy looking at yesterday.
Way Out: Change, personal growth, disabused mindset and new focus of the move of God today.
5. POLITICAL PASTORS (Jeremiah 10:21; Jeremiah 23:11; Micah 3:11)
Description: They were once Servants of the Lord, but are now backslidded. *They no longer have time to preach, pray, nourish people and prepare them for heaven. All their time is taken up with meetings upon meetings. They have become servants of the people. Bad friends, economic hardship and strange teachings have changed them.
Basic Motive: To make it, either by force or by fire. They therefore engage in Church politics. They become cunning, crafty, arm-twisting and they can speak from both sides of the mouth. Their strategic closeness to Church authority make them to determine the transfer, promotion, discipline and suspension of other Pastors that are many times better than them. Character assassination is their modus–operandi.
Demerits: Their Churches always suffer because they are not always around due to frequent meetings. They are spiritually dry, unable to get fresh insight from God and the Church suffers spiritually. They get involve in scandals which they use for their political manouvering to cover up. Political Pastors needs to return back to the Lord, or else…
Way Out: Remember where you have fallen, repent and return back to the Lord. Stop Church politics and concentrate on the primary job of pastoring, leading, nourishing and preparing people for heaven.
6. OCCULTIC PASTORS (Revelation 2:20,24: Revelation 3:9)
Description: These are the people who have no business being in the ministry, but they are there all the same. Some are former occult practitioners who claim to be born-again, while others are herbalists and magicians who decide to hood-wink people by modernizing as Pastors. They live double lives. They appear to eat at the Lord’s table but also deal with the devil in secret. They use means and demonic power to perform spurious miracles.
Basic Motives:Their motive is gain, power and control over people. They therefore use candles, coconut, incense, salt, kolanut, sponge, soaps, special baths and native roots as “prayer support.” They engage in fake vision, false prophecy and spurious miracles. They read the sixth and seventh books of Moses. They are usually polygamous and womanizers.
Demerits:Using other means to ‘Jazz’ up the work so that crowds can come; people under bondage and oppression; making people sure children of hell; immorality thrives; witchcraft and calamities in Churches; people dying and losing their destiny in such Churches. Oppressive air of bondage will be thick. No form of godly spirituality among the people. *Occultic Pastors will always be exposed by their traits and they will lose their ministries sooner or later.
Way Out:True repentance and knowing the Lord afresh, turning away from synagogue of Satan.
7. SHALLOW PASTORS (Zephaniah 3:4)
Description: These are proud, garrulous, self-centered and self-willed Pastors. They are islands; too busy to attend conferences or seminars or listen to anybody’s tape. They believe that everyone should learn from them but they cannot learn from others. Their anointing has grown to the extent that they don’t need to read the Bible everyday, have time of prayer and fast unto the Lord.
Basic Motives: Their motive is to succeed in ministry financially, materially and socially. They therefore spend Church money to buy expensive shoes, clothing, cars and properties. They have nothing to really give to people spiritually. They thrive on stories, noise, demonstrations, pushing people and mimicked styles and prophecies. Their sermon dwell on their worth, wealth and fame.
Demerits: People are fed half truths, lies, motivational talks. They are always on the move, have nothing really to share and give to the people. The people are therefore largely unsaved, canal, sinful, ungodly and religious. They therefore move away to where the grass is green and the water is still. Shallow Pastors will always lose serious Christians to other Churches.
Way Out: Return to the Lord, load yourself and prepare to feed people with balanced diet of the Word.
8. MINISTRY PASTORS
Description: These are ministry-focused Pastors. They are committed to and consumed by the work of the ministry. In their order of priorities, ministry is number one and everything else takes secondary position. These Pastors neglect their families, children and personal lives* in the name of doing ministry. Their children are wayward, bitter, uncatered for, angry and unconverted. Their wives are miserable, frustrated, neglected; feel cheated and lonely.*
Basic Motives:To fulfill their ministry irrespective of anything or anybody. Their desire is to prove themselves and the readiness to neglect everything for the ministry. They move from crusade to revivals, from prayer mountains to special seminars. They are too spiritual to play, pray, enjoy and relax with their wives, children and family, because sinners are perishing. They are always in a hurry.
Demerits: They experience divorce, have wayward children, unsettled homes and unfulfilled ministry. Their wives become demonized or engage in extra–marital affairs due to frequent absence and lack of care. Pastors that give ministry the number one priority above their God, home and personal development will always experience crisis, breakaway and being forsaken by the Lord. Lack of peace, progress and tranquility, both in the Church and personal lives will always be the outcome of the mistake of putting ministry before God and your family. Ministry Pastors will always experience burn out and frustration in ministry*.
Way Out: Return back to the Lord. Make your God and family as number one and two, and ministry as number three.*
9. SICK PASTORS (Revelation 3:14-19)
*Description: physically okay but spiritually sick. Sick because they don’t know the Lord, they are sinful, ungodly, evil, immoral and wicked. Though they sometimes find themselves leading large congregations, yet, they preach the Jesus they have not met. They only use their spiritual activities to cover their spiritual nakedness*.
Basic Motives: They don’t know why they are in the ministry. They want to be like the Jones and Joneses. They are copycats. They struggle with sin, evil and low self-image. They take out their anger, sin and frustration on the people. They are sick because they lack basic leadership skill. They are sick because they are not good examples and role model to follow. They are sick because they operate under curse and disobedience.*
Demerits: Destroyed lives of people under them; carnal, covetous, stinginess, unforgiving spirit, and readiness to curse and destroy people who dare question their ungodly activities. They usually kill Churches and cause stagnation by maki.
rediscovering the basic purpose of ministry.
10.WOUNDED PASTORS
Description: They have experienced back-stabbing, disappointment and calamities in ministry. Their work has dealt them a hard blow. Through some mistakes and ignorance, they have been wounded in ministry. They are therefore bitter, sad, hurting and hateful in the ministry .
Basic Motive:
Vengeance, retribution and survival. They have been wounded by sin, devil, people, partners, colleagues and members. Some have lost wives, husbands, children, names, properties and health in the course of doing ministry. Some have deep pain due to betrayal by mentors, leaders, associates and spouses. And the wound is fresh and new.
Demerits:
Bleeding hearts, hurtful feelings, lack of trust, discouragements, frustration and quitting the ministry. They don’t help anybody in the ministry again and they are always skeptical of people’s intentions. The unforgiveness in their hearts hinder the flow of God’s spirit in them. As long as you don’t allow the Lord to heal you, your Church will always suffer the hangover of your wounded heart.
Way Out:
Release the past; handover your hurts unto the Lord and march on in faith. Forgive and forbear.
11. TECHNOLOGY PASTORS
Description: They are Pastors on the move, who are always on the fast lane of life. Moving from city to city, nation to nation, making money at the expense of the souls under them. They spend weeks away from the Church. They junket from place to place in the name of doing ministry while the Church at home is dying and scattering. They monitor by means of audio and video messages of sermons.
Basic Motive: Money, pleasure and properties. They use God to better their lot in life. Their living standard is above the income of their Church. They always travel for ministration and business deals. While traveling, they continue to monitor the Church through phone, emails, websites,* phone-in-conference. They use these technologies to conduct services on Sunday and at vigils. In some cases, they stay permanently abroad and control the Church from there.
Demerits: Their associates are not trusted; they are given responsibilities without authority. The Church goes through turmoil, murmuring and lack of care, nurture and empowering. Such Pastors lose their Churches, their people and they eventually capitulate to the God of mammon, pleasure and fame. They lose their God and their ministry. *God usually replace them with capable people* who have a heart for things of eternal value.
Way Out:
Genuine repentance, restoration and rediscovering the basic purpose of ministry.
12. GROWING PASTORS
Description:
Very few, but these are Pastors after God’s heart. They are called and commissioned by the Lord. They pursue a god-given vision. They display high integrity, character, godliness and a heart for things of eternal value. They are not perfect, but growing everyday. They are balanced, learning, open to change and full of the Holy Spirit.
Basic Motive:
They desire to make impact for God. They want to see lives, families, nations and cities transformed for the Lord. They have no personal empire to build; rather they want to extend the frontiers of God’s kingdom throughout the whole world. They see ministry as opportunity to serve, help and empower others. They de-emphasize money, gain and pleasure.
Strengths:
They invest in people; sharpen their leadership skills; maintain good relational skills; work over their weaknesses, build godly character; empower, equip and enable others to rise up to their highest potentials. They are not threatened by the gift of others. They speak the truth with grace and seek to disciple everyone for the Lord. They ensure that the Church is built on the truth, undiluted and balanced Word of God. They Pastor growing Churches where the people are genuine Christians that continually grow in the things of the Lord. They raise leaders and equip them to carry on the work of God.
Results:
Good, great and growing Churches that will go on to affect things positively for God.
CONCLUSION
From these descriptions of twelve kinds of pastors, you can see that only onevcan really lead the Church to true and sustainable growth. This is the reason why majority of our Churches are sick, stagnant, crisis–ridden and are dying today because they are being pastored by the wrong kind of pastors.
Where are you? You can repent and change today to be a growing Pastor in all ramifications so as to lead the Church into the future.

LESSON 9
THE REWARDING OF THE FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY
SUBTITLE: “LET EVERY MAN PROVE HIS OWN WORK”
INTRODUCTION
1 Corinthians 3:12-15 KJV
Now if any man build upon this foundation *GOLD, SILVER, PRECIOUS STONES, WOOD, HAY, STUBBLE;* [13] Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. [14] If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. [15] If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Our motive, conduct and work on the day of reckoning will be revealed by fire as gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay or stubble.
While gold, silver and precious stones will survive the fire attracting us a reward, unfortunately, wood, hay or stubble will be burnt up bringing us loss!
This applies not only to fivefold ministers (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers), but also to all believers at large!
THE MESSAGE: “LET EVERY MAN PROVE HIS OWN WORK”
Galatians 6:4 KJV
BUT LET EVERY MAN PROVE HIS OWN WORK, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
This is Paul's wise instruction as contained in Galatians 6:4 (KJV).
I will quote that verse in the Amplified Bible,
“BUT LET EVERY PERSON CAREFULLY SCRUTINIZE AND EXAMINE AND TEST HIS OWN CONDUCT AND HIS OWN WORK.
He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable [in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison with his neighbor.”
Several years ago, I read the story of Junius whose ministry was a blessing to many people.
The sanctuary was jam-packed.
Many had been saved and many were seeking Christ.
He was pleased with his sermons and efforts.
While he was resting one day, he had a strange dream in which he was asked “How is your zeal?”
He felt his own zeal was fantastic and pleasing.
After the stranger had weighed it he said, “One hundred pounds!”
He passed it through fire and took notes as the process continued.
At the end of it all, he gave him the notes with a look of sadness mixed with mercy and said “May God save you!”
Then he left the room.
The 'notes' read thus:
Analysis of the zeal of Junius a candidate for a crown of Glory
Weight in mass 100lbs
On this on analysis there proves to be:
∆ Biotry ... 10 parts
(wood, hay & stubble)
∆ Personal ambition ... 23 parts (wood, hay & stubble)
∆ Love of praise ... 19 parts and (wood, hay & stubble)
∆ Pride of denomination ... 15 parts (wood, hay & stubble)
∆ Pride of talent ... 14 parts
(wood, hay & stubble)
∆ Love of authority ... 12 parts (wood, hay & stubble)
∆ Love to God ... 4 parts
(pure zeal)
∆ Love to man ... 3 parts
(pure zeal)
100 (total)
[Do we really love God who has called us? Do we truly love the people, most especially those we are sent to?]
After going through it he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
As he knelt gazing upon the paper in his hand, it changed into a mirror and he saw his heart reflected in it.
(That's why we need to examine our hearts and minds in the mirror of the Word daily - see James 1:22- 25, Hebrews 4:12-13, John 12:47-48).
Then he said, *“The record is true!... I saw it. I felt it…”
So he besought God to save him from himself with many tears.
Then he woke up with a loud cry of agony.
He concluded, *“I had once prayed to be saved from hell but prayer to be saved from myself now was immeasurably more fervent and distressful.”
(Culled from a magazine titled
'A Worker's Dream.’)
*WORD OF EXHORTATION*
Jesus said, “For nothing is hid that shall not be made manifest, nor anything secret that shall not be known and come to light”* (Luke 8:17, RSV).
Peter also wrote,
“And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear”* (1Peter 1:17).
PRAYER
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting”
(Ps 139: 23- 24, NIV).
2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
2Co 13:6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
2Co 13:7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
CONFESSION
If you want to become a child of God now, then say this confession:
"I choose to repent today. Also I choose to believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose up for my justification. The scripture says, "If you confess with you mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9). Therefore, I believe in Jesus with my heart and confess him as my Lord. Now, I am born- again (Amen)."
PRAYER FOR HEALING & DELIVERANCE
So put your hand on the part of your body that needs healing. Also on your chest for inner healing of your spirit or soul. You can also do it on behalf of your loved ones.
Now in the mighty name of Jesus, be healed of cancer, HIV/AIDS, barrenness, insanity, lameness, blindness, deafness, dumbness, fibroid, tumour, broken bone, hypertension, epilepsy, kidney failure, liver failure, weak heart, leprosy, emotional crisis, failed marriages, failed ministries, failed businesses, academic failure, broken heart, depression, wounded conscience, and all manners of sicknesses and diseases.
In the name of Jesus, I command your total deliverance from generational or family curses, spirit of death, bondages, and so on.
Be healed in Jesus' name! Be healed in Jesus' name! Be healed in Jesus' name!
SAY THIS ALOUD TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
Also Jesus said, *“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8).
And on the day of Pentecost
“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:4).
Therefore, I receive the Holy Spirit by faith right now and I begin to speak in an unknown tongue (unlearned tongue) as He gives me the utterance.
I command every foul spirit [spirit of fear, spirit of unbelief, spirit of doubt, religious spirit, unforgiving spirit…] wanting to hinder me to stop in its evil operation in my life in Jesus’ name.
Thank you God for filling me with your Spirit in Jesus’ name (Amen).
